Our Mission: To provide accessible, compassionate and effective dental care to South Sound children in need.

LINDQUIST DENTAL CLINIC FOR CHILDREN (LDCC) IS THE ONLY PRIVATE NONPROFIT DENTAL CLINIC IN PIERCE COUNTY, SPECIALIZING IN SERVING CHILDREN!

The need for low-income children's dental care is well overdue and greatly underserved!
Did you know...
  • Tooth decay is the most common chronic childhood disease in America
  • It affects half of all first graders and 80% of seventeen-year-olds
  • 37% of Pierce County 2nd and 3rd graders have rampant decay (in 7 or more teeth) compared to 21% in all of Washington State*
  • 39% of low-income preschoolers have severe decay (of the upper front teeth) compared to 18% in all of Washington State*
  • Low and moderate-income children with tooth decay, miss an average of 13 days a year of school due to dental problems
  • In Washington State, one in seven low-income children has unmet dental needs
  • It’s been determined that 80% of all dental disease is found within the low-income population within our community
  • Over 100,000 children are eligible for Medicaid in Pierce County alone**
  • Pierce County is the most populous county in the South Sound area of Western Washington
  • Pierce County's unemployment rate outpaced the state by almost a full percent in March 09**

According to the 2000 Surgeon General’s report, “Oral Health in America,” tooth decay is the single most chronic childhood disease – five times more common than asthma and seven times more common than hay fever. Millions of school hours are lost each year to dental–related diseases. It’s a situation the Surgeon General’s office has labeled as an “epidemic.”

The 2003 Pierce County Needs Assessment survey identified finding/accessing dental care to be in the top five of both overall needs and service needs throughout Pierce County.

The United Way 2003 Human Services Assessment indicates that 33% of children in Pierce County ages two to four have never seen a dentist.

Lindquist Dental Clinic for Children (LDCC) is the only full time children’s dental clinic in Pierce County that provides dental services for children of all ages, regardless of income, and will accept low-income children that have no insurance or ability to pay. LDCC accepts DSHS medical coupons, most insurances - including TriCare (with no out of pocket costs for covered services for families who qualify according to income) and uninsured children are seen on a sliding scale fee basis.

No child in need of dental care is turned away due to inability to pay!  At LDCC we strive to break down the access barriers, for children in the South Sound area of Western Washington, that keep the above troubling statistics so high.

We hope this site can assist you in obtaining the services you need.
